Key Mindset Shifts You Need To Make For Sustainable Fat Loss



Listen up, friends! This might just be one of the most IMPORTANT & VALUABLE posts I've written.


Why?


Because I can keep sharing my fave workouts and meal plans to help you lose weight, but we ALL know that the macros don't mean anything if you're still stuck in the same mindset and habits you've always had.


Believe me, I've been there. I've tried all the fad diets. I've been frustrated with myself for falling "off the wagon", for not being dedicated enough to eat chicken and broccoli every day, or for being inconsistent in my workouts.


However, I realized that without addressing these key limiting beliefs, I was destined for disappointment. Because (trust me on this!!) you gotta make the changes on the inside FIRST, before you can start seeing those changes on the outside.


Try addressing these mindset shifts in your own life - say them out loud and see how they sit with you. If you catch yourself saying these things to yourself on a regular basis, or if you even just get a weird feeling when saying these things aloud, chances are these may be pain points you need to address.


Once you're able to work through these limiting beliefs, you'll be able to unlock your TRUE potential to change your body and lifestyle.


"I'M TOO BUSY TO...."

... meal prep, exercise, etc. Try switching this with "_____ is not a priority to me" and see how that feels. We're never too busy to brush our teeth, or take a shower, or call our best friend, right? That's because we FIND TIME for the things that are a priority to us.


"IT'S SO HARD TO RESIST TEMPTATION WHEN I'M WITH MY FRIENDS"

We often use this excuse to forgo saying "no" to the chips, extra fries or popcorn offered to us when out with friends. For me, I make sure I have healthy snacks packed in my bag for outings with friends - that way, I can still feel included, but have a better choice available to me.


"I DON'T COOK MY OWN MEALS, THEREFORE I NEED TO CHANGE MY FAMILY'S HABITS, TOO"

This belief immediately takes the blame off you and points blame at your environment for not cooperating with your goals. Sista - only YOU have the power to change your life. That starts with cooking your own meals and communicating your goals with your family/friends.


"I DON'T LIKE CARDIO/WEIGHT TRAINING"

There are so many forms of cardio and resistance training, that I find this one hard to believe. Don’t like running? Go for a walk, try a dance class, do some yoga, or take up swimming. Don’t like training in a gym? Do a home workout, exercise with friends, or try a class that will introduce you to lifting weights.


"I CAN'T SEEM TO STAY MOTIVATED"

You can’t rely on motivation to get you to your goals. Instead, focus on developing the tools & skills you need to continue pushing yourself further toward those goals when the motivation ISN’T there. (Because it won’t always be!)


"I'LL ONLY BE HAPPY WHEN I REACH MY GOALS"

Although it's always important to have goals, don't get hung up about the numbers - whether it's on the scale, the amount of reps you can perform, or weight you can carry in the gym. Those things don't matter as much as the way exercise and eating healthy will truly make you FEEL. (And don’t deny yourself the ability to be happy, right where you are!)
