One of the biggest non-negotiables in my health and fitness journey was that I didn’t want to have to give up my favourite foods and flavours (like birthday cake - my fave!!) in order to reach my body goals.
And - guess what? The good news is, you seriously don’t have to!
After 15+ years in my own fitness journey, certifications in both personal training and nutrition, and helping countless clients build their dream body from the comfort of their home - what I found was that it wasn’t about cutting out food groups, eliminating or restricting at all.
Instead, you just have to find ways to incorporate more of the good stuff into your everyday meals and routine - like protein, greens + fibre - in a way that tastes damn amazing!
And that’s where this recipe comes in.
This Chocolate Cake Batter Protein Smoothie is like throwing yourself a birthday party every time you make it. (‘Cause who doesn’t love birthdays!?)
HOW DO I GET THAT CAKE BATTER CONSISTENCY?
Now, I tried a bunch of different protein powders for this recipe, but nothing was able to get it as thick and smooth as Garden of Life’s Plant-Based SPORT protein powder - so, while you’re always free to choose whatever protein powder you’d like… I highly, highly recommend using this one to get it to that “cake batter” consistency.
WHAT ABOUT THE GREENS?
To make sure I get in my greens, fibre + micronutrients - I used Garden of Life’s NEW Perfect Food greens powder in Chocolate. It's jam-packed with greens, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to keep your digestive system healthy and happy, while still enjoying one of the best protein smoothies you'll ever have! (It’ll still taste a little like greens - so if you’re not a fan of that, feel free to cut the portion in half so you can taste more of the chocolate while preserving some of those good-for-you nutrients!)
And, of course, feel free to top the whole thing off with some rainbow sprinkles. Because, girlfriend - you can totally have your cake and eat it too!
