You Will Always Be Enough

This is such a hard post for me to write, but I'm doing it regardless... because I know I'm not the only one who needs to hear it.

When I was the girl on the left, I HATED my body. I hated the way I looked and desperately wanted to be somebody else.

Is there anything wrong with the girl on the left? Hell no!

Should she feel like she is less beautiful, capable and WORTHY than the girl on the right? Absolutely not.

Should she spend every waking hour worrying about the way her 'fatness' would be perceived by others, and MINIMIZING herself (her body, her dreams, her goals) for fear of judgement and hate - both from others and from her own internal dialogue? Not at all.

But that's what I did.

And, I missed so many amazing opportunities and experiences because I willingly denied myself the right to LOVE my body unconditionally, no matter what stage of the journey I was in.

I wish I could go back and tell this girl that all of the stress and worry and tears, all of the skipped meals and the horrible diets were NOT worth it. All along, I could have just decided then and there that I WAS ALWAYS ENOUGH just the way I am.

So, if there's one piece of advice I could give to anyone embarking on a fitness journey and dealing with feelings of self-loathing and a butchered self esteem, it's this:

No matter where you are in your fitness journey right now - whether you're still struggling to pick up that initial momentum, or finally starting to see those small changes you've been working so hard to achieve - love your body through it ALL. Through all the pain, sweat and tears. Through the good days and the bad.

Instead of working against your body, work WITH your body. Support it, be kind to it. You'll find the journey becomes a lot easier when you have a better relationship with yourself and your body.

And know that, no matter what your fitness and health goals are, you will always, ALWAYS be enough.

With love and wellness,
