Loukoumania: Greek Sweets You Can Feel Good About - From The Outside In!

Last weekend, Kyle & I had the incredible opportunity to check out this fun, new Greek bakery & cafe in Vaughan, called Loukoumania.

The cafe is named after their specialty treat, loukoumades (pronounced loo-koo-mah-thes), which is a traditional Greek dessert made up of fried dough soaked in honey - so that when you bite into it, you get a delicious burst of sweet and savoury flavours all in one. At Loukoumania, you also get to customize your loukoumades with as many toppings as you want. From melted Nutella and chopped pecans, to salted caramel sauce and shredded coconut, the options are absolutely endless!

The best part? Their loukoumades recipe is one that’s been passed down for generations and is egg-free, dairy-free, vegan (when made without honey) and made fresh to order on the spot! That way, you’re always getting the warmest, freshest and highest-quality ingredients in each of your loukoumades, made exactly how you like it.

Check out our flavour combinations below!

COCONUT CREAM PIE: shredded coconut, banana cream sauce & salted caramel

BIRTHDAY CAKE: vanilla sauce & rainbow sprinkles

MAPLE BACON: naked (no honey), maple syrup, bacon bits & icing sugar

TOTALLY NUTS: naked (no honey), melted Nutella & crushed pecans

While the loukoumades were definitely a little indulgence for me that weekend, Loukoumania is also known for offering various health-conscious items on their menu too - like custom-built Greek yogurt bowls and butter coffee with MCT oil (also known as bulletproof coffee).

So, naturally, I had to try them too!

High in protein, healthy fats and filled with LOTS of probiotics, their Greek yogurt bowls are limited in processing which results in its creamy, thick texture. I topped mine with a (very generous) serving of thyme Greek honey and crushed walnuts for both the added health benefits and deliciousness! Containing some of the highest levels of antioxidants, polyphenols and flavonoids, thyme honey is literally some of the best honey you can find; while walnuts are rich in protein, Omega-3’s and help promote overall heart health. It’s a treat you can feel good about from the inside out!

Finally, to wash it all down, we just HAD to try some butter coffee with MCT oil and an ice cold frappe.

Ever tried butter coffee?

I hadn’t either! It may sound a bit weird at first, but knowing about its many health benefits, I was pretty excited to try it out. The thing is, this type of coffee craze is far from new. In fact, various forms of butter coffee have been enjoyed for CENTURIES by people from the Himalayas, Ethiopia, Nepal, Vietnam, and Singapore. Known for promoting weight loss and boosting overall energy levels, adding a bit of butter to your coffee alone is a great way to start your morning. However, top it off with some MCT oil, and you’ve got yourself a coffee that packs a powerful punch.

If you’re looking for a place that will make you feel GOOD about indulging in sweet Greek treats - this is the place for you. Whether you’re in the mood for something more health-conscious or are planning to go all out with your most creative, customized loukoumades creation possible, Loukoumania has something for everyone!

I’ve been saying to Kyle that I want to travel to Greece soon, but with Loukoumania so close to home, I think we can wait a liiiiiitle bit longer.

Check out Loukoumania on their website or Instagram!

With love and wellness,
